Rawhide is one of several Konami slots games with a western motif. It features iconic western symbols that when played in sequence can pay handsomely.
The game features a robust free games alignment as well as scatter prizes that pay very well. In regular gameplay, the wins are consistent although not terribly large.
So if you are looking for a simple game without a lot of bells and whistles that is still very entertaining and a lot of fun, you should check out rawhide.
Game Play
The minimum bet is $.30, betting $.01 on all 30 lines. The maximum is a whopping $180.00, or $6 per line. Players have the option of betting per line 1 credit all the way up to 6.
Wins run left to right across 5 reels and the highest win on each line pays and is totaled. The highest scatter win pays and that win is added to any other payoffs.
The symbols, as mentioned are American west oriented. A cowboy heads it off as the most valuable symbol, paying 2 credits for 2 consecutive reels up to 1000 per credit for six. Other credits in order of value are a bag of money, covered wagon and windmill (which pays 15 on one credit for 3 and 250 for 5.
In addition are the standard symbols from a deck of cards, which pay less than any of the face symbols. These include an A, K, Q, J, !0 and 9. Each starts paying 5 on 1 credit for 3 lines up to the Ace symbol, which pays 150 on 1 credit for 5 symbols.
A cowgirl on a Reward poster serves as the wild symbol. That substitutes for all symbols but the scatter and appears only on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Bonus Features
As with most Konami games, the scatter symbol is both worth its own value and when multiple are served up, can lead to free games.
By itself the symbol (a sheriff’s badge) pays 1 to 1 credit for a single scatter symbol up to 500 for 1 credit if 5 scatter symbols are present.
Free games are triggered when 3 or more scatter symbols appear anywhere on the screen. 3, 4 and 5 symbols pay on their own (per the paragraph above) and reward the player with 10, 15 or 25 free games.
When free games are activated, all wins are 2X. Additional free games can be won during the bonus feature in the same arrangement as they were to get awarded free games. The same lines apply during the free games bonus as apply in regular play.

Rawhide is a fun game because it is straightforward and simple. There are no bells or whistles and everything is clearly understood. There are no gray areas whether you are winning free games or winning in regular play.

While it is random and you can win something large quickly or be awarded free games, it is more likely that in both the online version and playing on the casino floor, you will invest a bit before you see any tangible payouts.
