Paddy Power Creates New Job To Manage Bets On Trump

[toc]British and Irish bookmakers Paddy Power Betfair are currently accepting applications for a new role in their Dublin office. The title? Head of Trump Betting.

Indeed, it seems that the online betting scene that has built up around the actions of the 45th U.S. President has grown so vast that one of the world’s largest online and live bookmaking companies has been forced to open an entire department to deal with it.

Head of Trump Betting description and duties

This new role in the Paddy Power Tower in Dublin is a three-month contract.

Paddy Power Betfair need someone to manage their newly-launched hub of special Trump bets, describing their search for a candidate as “looking for a marriage of more convenience than Donald’s to Melania.”

The successful applicant will manage a market of more than 100 online bets about Trump and his administration. The position combines a keen knowledge of U.S. politics with a passion for gambling.

Paddy Power lost out when Trump won the Presidency. The site paid out early election bets to those who backed Hilary Clinton. The job ad specifies that this won’t be tolerated again. The ad states “any suggestions to pay out early will be shot down faster than a journalist asking Trump a difficult question.”

President Trump and gambling

Donald Trump and the world of gambling have always been intertwined, evhen before he became President. The Trump Taj Mahal casino in New Jersey was a staple of the boardwalk until it closed in late 2016. The property was even featured in the poker cult classic Rounders.

Since announcing his candidacy, President Trump has been the subject of a lot of bets, due largely to the unlikelihood of his becoming President. Naturally, his victory over Clinton in November 2016 shocked many, Paddy Power Betfair included. They lost more than $3.3 million when the election results came in.

It’s fair to say that Trump has come under some criticism since taking office – some might say a lot of criticism. In fact, the betting markets are open on whether or not he will be impeached before serving his full term; indeed, you can even bet on which of his administration will be the next to resign!
