[toc]Playtech, one of the world’s leading online casino software providers, has signed an online slots content deal with PokerStars.

PokerStars, which until recently had offered exclusively online poker games, now has a suite of casino and sports betting options. This will be bolstered by online slots that players of other sites know and love, such as Age of Gods, Top Gun and Great Blue.

“We are very excited to partner with Playtech, and to provide our customers some of the best slots in the industry,” said Sam Hobcraft of PokerStars in a press release. “In particular, their suite of Jackpot games will fill one of the final gaps in our product offering.”

Playtech also have their own poker offer in the shape of the iPoker network, which includes sites such as Bet365 Poker.

What does this mean for PokerStars casino players?

Currently, players at PokerStars Casino can play the site’s in-house blackjack and roulette games, as well as a Live Casino offering and a selection of online slots from providers such as NetEnt and NYX as well as parent company Amaya’s own selection of online slots.

The addition of Playtech’s range of slots could drastically increase the selection of casino games available for online slots fans at PokerStars.

Currently, PokerStars’ range of slots is lacking in big jackpot games, which are a big draw for online slots aficionados. Playtech have a strong selection of jackpot slots to fill this gap in the market.

Playtech’s slots are currently live on PokerStars.

About Playtech

Playtech is a publicly-traded company and has been one of the most successful online gaming software suppliers since 1999.

Playtech provide casino and poker software to a number of major gambling brands, most notably a wide range of online video slots and jackpot slots.

The company has absorbed and acquired many games providers and aggregators to bolster its own ranks. Since 2010, Playtech has acquired GTS, Virtue Fusion, Ash Gaming, PTTS, PokerStrategy.com and Intelligence Gaming.

The current chief operating officer of PokerStars, Rafi Ashkenazi, joined PokerStars from Playtech in 2013 where he was a board member of the software supplier.

PokerStars and online casino games

PokerStars, part of the Amaya Group, is the world’s largest online poker site – a position it has held for well over six years with a market share of more than 70 percent.

Until 2015, PokerStars prided itself on offering the best online poker games. Since 2016, the company has begun to focus much more strongly on online casino games and sports betting; PokerStars Vegas and BetStars were launched in selected regions in 2016.

PokerStars currently offer blackjack, roulette, baccarat and slots as well as a Live Casino. This feature gives players the chance to interact with real dealers, who direct and stream the games via a webcam to the PokerStars client.

So far, Amaya has seen casino revenues increasing steadily with casino and sportsbook, which features a myriad of options like darts betting and Olympics gambling, accounting for over 20 percent of the company’s total revenue in Q1 2016.

Despite poker revenue for the online poker giant falling, year-on-year Q1 revenue increased by 6 percent thanks in part to the success of casino games.
