[toc]Fedor Holz has won the €50,000 buy-in Super High Roller event at the PokerStars EPT Barcelona for €1.3 million. Holz’s win comes one month and nine days after announcing that he would be focusing on other, non-poker endeavours.
The 22-year-old Holz has now won almost $20,000,000 in live poker tournaments, including a six-week streak this summer in which he won $10 million and capped things off with a World Series of Poker bracelet.
This EPT Super High Roller win is his first tournament cash since his bracelet in July and places him very firmly in the number one spot of the Global Poker Index.
Fedor Holz: “I’m not going to continue as a professional player”
Holz won his WSOP bracelet in the $111,111 buy-in One Drop event, winning $4,981,775 on top of his first bracelet. During the bracelet presentation ceremony, Holz made the announcement that he would be focusing on other things outside poker.
“I’m not going to continue as a professional player,” he told the poker media. “I don’t know [what else I will do]. Find out: that’s the mission, I think. I think travelling will help me find my way. I want to try out a lot of different things.”
Holz made this announcement after he had made a huge impact on the live poker tournament scene, particularly in the “high roller” tournaments that carry a buy-in of $25,000 to $100,000. His WSOP bracelet was the culmination of a $10 million winning streak in just six weeks.
Fedor’s rise to the top
At the age of just 22, Fedor Holz tops the Global Poker Index and has accrued nearly $20 million in live tournament cashes as well as an additional $2.8 million in online poker earnings.
Playing as “CrownUpGuy” online, Holz boasts a World Championship of Online Poker Main Event title worth $1.8 million as well as multiple other Sunday major championships.
However, it was in the live arena that young Holz really made an impact. His first major win was in the €2,150 side event at EPT Barcelona 2014 for €43,750 and since then he has been unstoppable.
It’s in the huge buy-in tournaments that Holz has really shone. He took €337,500 for seventh place in the EPT Monte Carlo €100,000 event in 2015; he followed that up with a fourth place for €329,800 in the €50,000 event just four days later.
His first seven-figure score in the live arena came just a couple of months after his WCOOP win when he won the $100,000 WPT Alpha8 for $1.5 million.
Less than a month later, he won the WPT National in the Philippines for $3.4 million; three weeks after that he took sixth in the $100K Challenge at the Aussie Millions for $281,260.
Six weeks, ten million
It was the summer of 2015 when Holz seemed like he couldn’t lose. At the end of May, he came seventh in a $50,000 event for $122,400 and followed it up two days later by taking second place in the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl for $3.5 million.
Four days after that, he won another $50,000 Super High Roller for $637,000 before winning the Aria $25,000 High Roller in Nevada for $393,000. He won that same event for another $276,000 two weeks later, then came third for $407,000 two weeks after that.
Finally, he won the $111,111 WSOP High Roller for One Drop bracelet and $4.9 million to cap off an amazing eight-figure winning streak.
